Take photos and videos immediately. Do not throw away damaged items until the adjuster sees them. Stop the damage from getting worse (e.g., turn off the water), but don't make permanent repairs yet.
Do not wait. If an employee is injured or a customer slips, fill out an Incident Report immediately. Preserve CCTV footage for that hour. Late reporting on Workers Comp can lead to claim denial.
For car accidents or theft, you usually need a police report number to file. Make sure you get that from the officer on scene.
